Friday
Friday was a practice and qualifying day. We just got through tech in time for the first session. The car passed scrutineering without any issues. Practice was a true learning experience for Shane, but he still finished 6th, with a best time of 2:21.589. Joe Griffin was the pace setter, at 2:16.611. Qualifying came next, just before lunch. Shane improved to 3rd, at 2:13.164. Doug Voss had fast time at 2:12.348. Race 1 was in the afternoon. It was supposed to be a 6 lap affair, but was red flagged after just 2 laps due to a fairly serious accident on lap 3 which hospitalized Andrew Stein over night. Shane finished 4th, 1.235 seconds behind the winner, Andrew Graham and manged a 2:12.696 on his only flying lap. Successful start to the weekend. Fingers crossed. Now its off to Seneca Lodge for dinner with Robby Bork and crew, and then on to the Villager Motel & Glen Manor for an early night.
