Gladiator Road Racing is Featured in the October/November Edition of Inside Track
Many thanks to intrepid reporter Wally Nesbitt for the article about our racing endeavours and to Inside Track magazine for publishing. Unfortunately, our interview with Wally took place at Shannonville on a not particularly glorious day for our team. Not to worry, during the off season we will repair some suspension damage and an engine malady and be fit as a fiddle for the 2023 VARAC VGP, June 15-18, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Be there, it is vintage racing at its finest.

VARAC: Circa 1992 at Mosport & Shannonville
In 1992, Motoring TV on TSN did a feature about VARAC vintage racing, at Mosport. Click on either of the images above to go to my galleries of photos of VARAC's feature events from that year.

Now it's time to down size and I realized I have an overwhelming collection. Perhaps you would like to make an addition(s) to your collection. 1985
October 29 - I've just finished five galleries from 1985. Much of the '80s was my slide era, so these images have all been scanned from positive film. I just bought a decent scanner. It was hard to find, I guess everyone who had any interest in transferring their slides to digital has done so already.
The Budweiser GT in August was notable for both good and bad reasons. It was good because it was a World Endurance Championship event. It was bad because the field wasn't really representative of a world championship event. It was good because it was the world's competition debut of the TWR Jaguar XJR-6s, and they were instantly very competitive. It was very sad due due to the fatal accident at turn 2 of Manfred Winkelhock in a Kremer Porsche 962. |
2011 Canadian Grand Prix
Last Sunday, June 14, was the scheduled date for the Canadian Grand Prix. You may know that TSN replayed the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix in it's time slot. What you probably don't know is that MotorSport magazine is conducting a readers' poll to decide the on the greatest grand prix in the 70-year history of the Formula 1 World Championship. Canada 2011 has made the final five. What you definitely wouldn't know is that Shane attended that event. He and his AVR Motorsport partner Jon Rolstin were there to help prep GMG's Porsche 911s which were running in the GT3Cup supporting race. They had tickets for the GP on the outside of turn 10 "L'Epingle", where Shane took some pretty interesting pictures; a selection of which I have published for your enjoyment.

VARAC and Open Wheel Racing
November 6, 2018
At the November 4, 2018 VARAC AGM, two motions were presented, debated, and approved almost unanimously by the attending membership. The motions were submitted by Ted Michalos and I was the second.
1. That current F1200 cars, as defined by CASC, should be allowed to participate on the Vintage/Historic grid and
2. That Club Fords, as defined by Monoposto, should be allowed to compete on the V/H grid.
